Most of you heard about Hurricane Harvey that hit the United States at the end of August.  It was a Category 4 hurricane when it hit southern Texas and caused major destruction and insane flooding.  I watched the storm on the news, but J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans stepped in to help.

J.J. is an All-pro defensive end for the Houston Texans.  On August 28th, he started a funding page on  J.J. donated $100,000 himself and had a goal of raising $200,000.  He totally crushed his goal and had over 200,000 people donate money and raised $37 million dollars!!

JJ Is really proud of the fact that when times get tough, everybody chips in and comes together.  He is focusing on making sure now that the money he raised goes to the most devastated areas in and around Houston.  It’s awesome to see a professional athlete do something really important like this.  I hope more athletes do things like this in the future.  J.J. said, “Please keep this spirit of helping one another alive. The world is a better place when we all take care of each other.”

He is a great person and true patriot.
