The Boys give back!

Updated: June 21, 2017

Yesterday, the bleacher boys had a lemonade stand and bake sale! The Bleacher Boys have had so many amazing opportunities since we started the blog that we wanted a chance to give back and do something for others. We decided to hold the sale and donate all the money we made to a charity called Heroes and Cool Kids.

We chose Heroes and Cool Kids because it is run by former New York Jet, Bruce Harper. A few months back some of the Bleacher Boys had the chance to interview Bruce Harper and were super impressed with what a great guy he is. Bruce Harper played for the Jets from 1977-1984. He played kick returner, punt returner and running back. Harper led the NFL with more than 2000 all purpose yards for two years, was Jets MVP in 1980 and holds many Jets records.

Harper is now the founder and director of an organization called Heroes and Cool Kids. Heroes and Cool Kids is a program where professional athletes train high school athletes to go to classrooms and mentor middle school students. They teach the middle schoolers things like sportsmanship and conflict resolution.

The lemonade stand was a really big success! Bruce Harper stopped in and was so cool. He talked with everyone and signed a lot of autographs. We also had a raffle and of course we sold tons of lemonade and home made sweets. We had LOTS of fun but most importantly we were able to donate over $600 to Heroes and Cool Kids! It was such a great day and we all felt so good about it. I hope we can do it again soon!
