Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors who won the 2017 NBA Championship this week in just five games. There were many records set in the Finals by both the Warriors and Cavaliers. Here are some of them.

  1. The Warriors have the record for the most wins in a postseason going 16-1. I can’t see this record being broken anytime soon.
  1. Both teams scored big with shots from behind the arc. The most threes in a quarter was set by the Golden State Warriors in the first quarter of game 3 scoring 9. They broke their previous record of 8. In game 4, the Cavaliers set an all-time NBA Finals record for most 3-pointers made in a half with 13 and most 3-pointers made in a game with 24.
  1. LeBron James set some historic records too. The most triple doubles made by a player in all his finals appearances is now owned by James with 9. This record was previously held by Magic Johnson.
  1. In Game 4, there were a lot of records shattered, mostly by the Cavs. This includes most points in an NBA Finals quarter with 49 and most points in an NBA Finals half with 86. The Warriors and Cavs hold this next record together scoring the most combined points in an NBA Finals half with 154.

As a huge Lebron James fan, I’m already looking forward to a rematch in 2018. Is it possible we will see these two teams face each other for a third NBA Finals? I say chances are good.
