Tonight is game 5 of the NBA championship finals. The Golden State Warriors were looking to sweep the Cleveland Cavaliers until the Cavs won Saturday night’s game 4 in the series.

No NBA team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a 7 game series. But, a bunch of teams have come back from a 3-1 deficit to win.  Here are some of the best NBA comebacks in the finals:

Just last year, the Cavs were down 3-1 to the Warriors going into game 5 of the finals. They won 3 games in a row to become the NBA champions.  LeBron scored 41 points in both games 5 and 6, and had a triple double (which means 10 or more of 3 stats).  LeBron and Kyrie were on fire.

Also last year, the Warriors made it to the finals after coming back from a 3-1 deficit in the Western Conference finals against the Thunder.

In 2015, the Houston Rockets came back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Clippers in the Western Conference Semifinals. The Rockets ended up losing in the next round to the Warriors 4-1.

In 2006, the Phoenix Suns were losing the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Lakers 3-1, and they came back to win that series and then won the next round against the Clippers. But they didn’t make it all the way.  The Sun’s lost in the Western Conference Finals against Dallas.

But like I said, no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win an NBA 7 game series. So even though Cleveland is losing 3-1 right now, before Saturday’s game they were losing 3-0. So if the Cavs come back to win the finals this year they will make history.
