Lonzo Ball’s shoes cost what?!?!

Updated: May 10, 2017

Last week, Lonzo Ball (who is expected to be one of the top picks in this years NBA draft) and his father LaVar launched shoes under their Big Baller Brand. The first shoe in the line is called Z02 and it sells for $495 for the flagship model or $995 for the limited edition, which is personally autographed by Lonzo Ball. That is absolutely insane! Who is going to buy these shoes?

First of all, Lonzo Ball hasn’t even played a day in the NBA yet. Compare that to Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Lebron James who are all big time NBA superstars but none of their shoes sell for more than $200.

Second of all, this shoe is too expensive for kids to buy! The day the shoe was released Shaquille O’Neal called out Big Baller Brand by tweeting “Hey @Lavarbigballer real big baller brands don’t overcharge kids for shoes”. And you know what LaVar Ball said? “If you can’t afford the Z02’s you’re NOT a BIG BALLER!” Who says that?

Finally, I don’t even think this shoe looks good. A lot of people are saying it looks very similar to one of Kobe Bryant’s shoes the Kobe 8. But for $500 it definitely shouldn’t look like other shoes that have been out for years.

Kids want to wear clothing and shoes made by their favorite athletes. It makes you look and feel good. But charging so much money for a pair of shoes just isn’t right. Especially when you tell people that they’re not cool if they can’t afford them.

Go away LaVar Ball and take your sneakers with you.
